One of the most famous convergent boundaries is the one that created the Himalayan mountain range. This mountain range was created by two continental plates colliding and one forcing the other one above through subduction. If you use the graph at the bottom of the picture, you can see how large of an increase it is to the top and also how rapidly it jumps to the highest point.
One cool thing, or maybe not so cool thing, associated with this continental continental boundary is the amount of earthquakes that take place along this area. As you can see with the size of the symbols, most of these are pretty severe and could do a ton of damage if happening in an area with tons of civilization.
