The Scotia Plate is a plate that is formed by the subduction of the ridges that are located around it, although most of it is now surrounded by by other boundaries that cause transform areas.
I chose this plate because i was interested in the South American region and this was one thing i had never known. Since i was lacking in knowledge, i decided to chose it so i could get the chance to learn more.
Different things happen at these different boundaries. at divergent boundaries, the tectonic plates are pulling apart from each other (red lines). At transform boundaries, the plates move along side each other, causing friction (blue lines). At convergent boundaries, the plates move together, causing one to dive down and one to rise up, or possibly for them both to rise up and create mountains or volcanoes (yellow lines).
